St Patrick’s Day and Good Ol’ Luck
March 17, 2017
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
Are you feeling lucky? Well today is a great day to start creating your own luck! As the saying goes…
“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” -Seneca
Although it can be argued that there are cases of random luck; in more cases than not, it’s about being ready and unafraid to act when the moment arises.
You might say, that ‘moment’ and thus luck is a matter of being at the right place at the right time. Sure it is, but even this is often not as random as you may think.
Do you have a narrow routine life or are you opening yourself up to new people, going to new places, engaging in a variety of experiences on a regular basis?
Food for thought: Who is more likely to encounter an opportunity? Someone who follows the same path everyday or someone who explores and tries out different routes?
Are you giving yourself enough options? Are you giving yourself an advantage? Do you even recognize the situation as an opportunity? Be honest with yourself!
The next question is: Are you prepared?
Preparation involves learning and practice. The more you educate yourself on a topic, the more you gain experience and exposure on said topic, the more confident you will be. And as a result, you are more likely to anticipate what is coming, make any necessary adjustments and seize the right opportunities as they become available.
Whether it’s in regards to your love life, your career or your bucket list, ask yourself these questions regarding your level of preparation?
- Do I know exactly what I want?
- What information do I need?
- What skills do I need to have?
- What goals do I need to meet?
- Is there any way to improve the chances of the opportunity coming my way?
Remember, no excuses. Dedicate time to really think about the questions above and actually write down your answers. Once you have your answers, don’t just tuck them away, take action! Start working on each of the items on your list and be prepared to take advantage of the opportunities that arise. On a side note…
I thought I’d share a fun, healthy and nutritious recipe I found on Pinterest. It’s a perfect breakfast for St. Paddy’s Day, Dr. Seuss Day or really anytime you want to switch things up, especially if you have little kiddos. So, in honor of the day, I decided to whip up some Green Eggs & Ham this morning. Check out the delicious recipe here. And the best part, no food coloring! I used spinach instead of kale and even the kids gave it 2 thumbs up! Let me know if you try it.
And in the spirit of learning and expanding your horizons, surprise your friends & loved ones with an authentic St. Patrick’s Day greeting in Irish…
Lá fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh!
Once again, Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Remember: Invest in yourself, be intentional in your actions and you’ll have all the luck you need.
